Taking a daily walk in nature seems a simple fix and yet, sometimes during this last year, I was reluctant to step outside. Adopting a dog changed all that and I can honestly say that he saved me. Walking in the early morning hours before tourists and others are out, avoiding the hectic crowds, I share the beauty and quiet with bread delivery drivers and garbage collectors. We all know the gift of a newborn day before the sun rises. The smell of fresh ocean air, plumerias and dew is a very real joy every day now - I am grateful. I have no use for the hamster wheel any more....no more rat race for me. This year has changed everything.
This is absolutely beautiful and inspiring. So many things change and shift, in such small ways it's usually not noticeable until you look back and see the shifts accumulated. This is both scary and inspiring, for nothing alive is ever permanently stuck without some kind of evolution.
Wow, I read this just now following the completion of my journalling after sadhana practice. I literally journalled this, "Today I want to look at everything with wonder, and allow space for the beauty to be captured within me".
We're so lucky in Melbourne to have endured seven months of a harsh lockdown last year, to enjoy many cautious freedoms now, that so many still don't have. Sending all of my love and strength to whoever needs it. The freedom will come, I promise.
I usually go for a walk by the lake near my place in the morning, and I try to notice the little details that are different in the scenery every day - the way the water is moving, the colour of it, what kinds of birds are around. It's a good reminder that there is always change. It will happen for us too. Thanks for the beautiful reminder in your words.
