It’s no secret that our worlds have most likely stayed disturbingly the same over the last year. The Groundhog Day monotony repeating itself over and again, waking to the same routines, the same anxieties, the same apprehensions, the longings that won’t stop burrowing into our every thought. This is ok. Feeling overwhelmed, burned out, and just plain sick and tired of things being what they are is ok, there’s no wrong way through this pandemic, there’s no wrong way through the heightened anxiety that comes from feeling trapped and stuck, sunken into the grooves we didn’t want to create in the first place.
I’m here to say, and I need to practice this as much as I preach it to be quite honest, we can shift this. We can quite literally fake it until we make it, we can plaster a smile until it learns to come itself, we can squint our vision until it looks out the same old windows we’ve been looking our for 365 days and sees something new. For here’s the secret: There is always something new. Our world changes two billion times a day in tiny ways, in ways that go unnoticed and under appreciated, we’re so busy looking beyond that we miss what’s right in front of us.
I know this isn’t easy, and as I said, I need to practice as much as I preach for I too get bogged down into wondering when life will go back to normal, but I think it’s valuable, and it’s worth the attempt. We need to find all the beauty that we possibly can while we can, for life is short, fleeting, and it can all go away in an instant. Take the time to see things as new once more, take the time to appreciate these beautiful moments. Fake it, if you must, until it comes natural, until your heart beats slow once more.
Peek out the window
marvel at the world below.
Everywhere is new.

Each day is truly a wonder.... thank you for the reminder and as I always say...”Make someone smile today”
I usually go for a walk by the lake near my place in the morning, and I try to notice the little details that are different in the scenery every day - the way the water is moving, the colour of it, what kinds of birds are around. It's a good reminder that there is always change. It will happen for us too. Thanks for the beautiful reminder in your words.
