I’ve already used up the year’s quota of tears, and it’s not even my birthday yet, almost, but not quite. Reading through this heart and soul has shed more light than anything else, all of which I will be forever grateful.
There isn’t anyway to adequately thank The Gregsons through a screen, but the memory and the celebration of freedom reminded me of this collaboration:
I love this so much - it gave me that feeling of nostalgia for things that have been and those yet to come that will be this. It made my heart swell.❤✨💕
For me, a memory that evokes that feeling of both connection and freedom was October 10, 2018 in the very same Ben Nevis Inn. I kid you (k)nott. 😉 The sun was setting and my husband and I sat at one of those long tables for hikers feeling the exhilaration of climbing to the top of Ben Nevis. We ached in every muscle but we felt so very alive. We had connected with the landscape and with fellow hikers. The food was sensational. All the senses were engaged. It was truly a breathe in, sigh out kind of moment.
I'm just getting caught up.... I'm late! But that said, I love everything about this...and it's true that freedom means different things and different moments to different people....but when you feel it, it's beautiful!
I feel this sometimes when I'm teaching....when I'm doing the work my soul means to do and I'm in alignment with my purpose and the energy of the ones I'm working with and we're collectively growing and I'm feeling the role a conductor must when a little gesture invokes a player's moment of greatness in the swell of a beautiful song....facilitating a moment, a spark, and watching it shine. I live for that.
So.... I'm putting your words into my classroom this coming fall:
"Find your freedom, your independence, find what makes you love waking up, and put in the hard work to make that thing happen. It’s not supposed to be easy, it’s supposed to be meaningful, this time we’ve got on earth. Make your meaning, make your freedom, find what sets you on fire, what lifts up above the lights, above the smoke."
To remind me and my learners...make it meaningful. 💜
Such beautiful words :-)
