I know I drone on and on about this, but there’s a reason why I do: I believe, when stripped down to the bones of it all, THE most important thing we can do in this life, is to give our kindness and love away to everyone we encounter. I have been Buddhist since I was 12 years old, and at the foundation of all my spirituality, is the idea of loving kindness and compassion. We are here, quite simply, to give our love away, and to make sure that we give of ourselves to those we encounter. I cannot emphasize this enough, I cannot stress it to a degree that gives it enough weight, but I believe it with all I am. I know, from time to time, this is hard, harder than we wish it to be, but it is worth it, and I stand by that. Do me a favor, and report back if you wish: Over this next week, give your kindness away to every single person you encounter, whether or not they have earned it. Give it away and breathe before speaking and be patient with your responses. See how you feel, tell us how you changed during this period. Try, you’ve nothing at all to lose. I think you’ll be shocked at how it feels.
To give of ourselves,
to dedicate our lives to
improving others.

I couldn’t agree more stringently! We are meant to become the embodiment of love. Often we learn how to love by learning it’s contrary, but the point is to move past the pain, to learn the lessons of what doesn’t work, to open our hearts more completely. It’s scary often, but it’s the only way to be completely alive. ❤️
I do often try to lead with this mentality, it can sometimes be more difficult to take that breathe but I always try. My Grandma was a shining example of this growing up. She came from nothing, had nothing and would still give to everyone she encountered, even if it was just kindness she always tried to help others.
