How, I do ask you with all sincerity, is it already September? I don’t remember the machinations of time, but I do know they have sped since I was young. I do know this. Anyway, here’s some links to remind you that you’re here, that time is fake, and that we should slow down.

Here’s the scoop, kids:

1. In The Land Of Saints and Sinners Trailer - You know this of me by now, I love Ireland, and I love Irish culture. Here’s a new Irish film that some are calling the “Irish Avengers” as it’s violent, got a star-studded cast, and will probably make me excited. Plus, the accents are just the very best.

2. Skydiver Drops 100 MILLION Seeds - If you’re gonna jump out of an airplane, why not do some good to offset the carbon you’re wasting getting up there? This nutty skydiver did just that, dropping 100 million native plant seeds into the Brazilian Amazon with his jump. Rad. Just f’ing rad.

3. Find More Birds - I am a bird nerd, always have been, always will be. I record them with my Merlin App, capture them with my Seek app so I can collect all the species I’ve seen, and I freak the F out when I find new ones. If you’re not yet like me, but wanna be, here’s a great article on how to find my birds wherever you might be. Start now, it’s a life-long joy that you can take with you anywhere. I promise.

4. The 43:57 Rule. Be A Better Listener - If there’s one skill we all need to cultivate and practice more and more and more, it’s that of listening. We all talk so damn much, we forget to listen, truly listen, and my goodness what damage that’s doing. Being a better listener is an obtainable skill, and it’s a revolutionary one. This article talks about the 43:57 ratio of talking to listening, and the snowball effect of goodness that happens when it’s adopted. Try it, what do you have to lose?

5. To Write To Write Playlist - I curated a playlist that I write to, meditate to, think to, relax to, and just have on when I don’t want the normal music permeating my day. I find I turn to this more than almost any other list, and I Love it so very much. If you’re in need for some amazing music to have on whilst you do anything worth doing, maybe try it out?

6. He Went To Paris by Jimmy Buffett - The world lost an amazing man this past weekend, someone who shaped my adolescence with his music, his passion for life, and his yearning for the sea. I’ll miss this man, way more than I thought I would, but we’ll always have his music, his Songs You Know By Heart. Rest well friend. Rest well indeed. *Sidenote, I re-wrote this song for my buddy Greg on his birthday after he returned home from studying abroad in Florence, Italy…I called it “He Went To Florence.”*
