The weather is turning here, rain and chill and highs that don’t bloom higher than 50, and that screams Autumn. To celebrate the slow passing of heat, here are some chilled out little links for you to drink up.
I really, really want to take this place to the next level, but I can only do so with your help. This Signal Fire takes up so much of my time, emotional energy, and love, but I’m only able to do it when not doing my other gigs. You joining us here will help make THIS my main gig, and I would love that more than all things put together. You can help, here’s how:
Here’s the scoop, kids:
8 “Non-Negotiables” from a 95-Year-Old Cardiologist - If a person lives to 95, listen to their advice on how to do the same. If that said person is also a cardiologist, mayyyybe listen up even closer. Here are his tips on living a long, healthy, happy life. My personal favorite is #5: He Creates Art. Indeed sir, indeed.
22 Scariest Movies on Netflix - The moment the weather starts looking like Autumn, my mind starts drifting towards Halloween, the indisputable BEST holiday of the year. I love spooky, I love eerie, I love haunted. Here’s a fun list of the 22 scariest horror movies on Netflix you can properly inundate yourself with the best season’s scares. Why not?
10 Greatest Single Lines In Rock History - I love this list, though I do feel it is lacking in many ways, and some great lines have been left off, but hey, I’m not the expert from the UK that wrote it, so what do I know? That said, there are some doozies on here, and if you read my poetry you know, I am a sucker for great single lines that punch you in the guts. I actually TOTALLY disagree with the #10 line, I think that line is trash. What lines do YOU feel were left off?
Hum Yourself Stress Free? - I actually TRIED this one on my last airplane voyage, and I’ll be damned, it worked. This article talks about how if we add humming, actual, audible humming, to our breath work, it can further intensify the positive response. It works. This has the science as to why, and it involves our Vagus Nerve and other stuff, but it works. Read it, try it, and thank me (and ok, them) later.
Nebraska by Bruce Springsteen - Because it feels dark and stormy and the harmonica feels like a howl in the night. Oof.
Typewriter Series Silliness - More me, sorry in advance. But, poetry.

I love you all. Be good.
Most excellent work, kind sir!
We have several members in the community that I work for that humming is a daily practice …interesting enough, most don’t know they are doing it - but as instructors we have come to realize that it often comes after times of extreme stemming or loud, boisterous activity. After contacting a member’s family to ask the “why”, they told us that their doctor also said it is a subconscious way of stimulating the vagus nerve to calm them…so consciously or subconsciously - looks like humming has some great benefits! (Might get a little noisy if everyone in the office starts humming at the same time 🤭
Re: rock lines - so many left off that list!
But the one that immediately came to mind is from Twenty One Pilots in the song “Tear in my heart” that says: “The songs on the radio are okay, but my taste in music is your face”
So here is to all of your faces on this magical Friday - be love and be loved 💜💜💜
The list of rock song lines is quite different to one I’d create. Like this, from Yellow Ledbetter (Pearl Jam): “I said I don’t know whether I’m the boxer or the bag”.
