Little Bits Of Light

Hot diggity hot darn. It took 58 hours when it shoulda taken 17, but we made it home, and holy b-nanas I am worn out. That said, it’s damn near July, which is just absolute madness if you ask me. How about some links to make things feel cooler?

Here’s the scoop, kids:

1. 8 Sleep Tips That Actually Work - I needed all 8 of these over the last few days, trying to sleep in weird airport hotels we weren’t supposed to be in, on airplanes that were cramped and stuffy, and I’ll be buggered if some of them didn’t actually help! Try them, the next time your sheep counting just doesn’t cut the mustard.

2. 100 Reasons To Unplug & Get Outside - You, I am sure, don’t need these ideas from me, but hey, sometimes a gentle reminder is good. We need to unplug more, get outside more, and worry less. I love these 100 ideas, these 100 reasons. One of my personal favorites: “Because trees are an anti-psychotic. A 2014 study concluded that being surrounded by greenery had a positive effect on mental health.” Go find the others…share your faves in the comments.

3. 100 Weird Facts - While we’re on the 100 kick, how about 100 weird ass facts that come from left-field, right-field, and just about every other field you can imagine. 100 weird things that probably don’t sound true, but are. I dig it.

4. Where To See Fireflies! - Tis the season for my most favorite little critters, the ones I grew up calling lightning bugs, but you may have called them fireflies. This little list has the best places on the planet of earth to see them, and hopefully none are too far away from you to make it happen. I miss them, living where I do in Montana, and I wish I was closer. Every day, I wish this.

5. Scottish Highlands Crowned “Best In The World 2023” - In what comes as absolutely no surprise to me, the Scottish Highlands have been crowned with a prestigious honor from National Geographic, sharing space with some other stunning locations. For me though, it just doesn’t get better than the Highlands, and it never will. If you’ve not yet been, now is the time, this year, and take me with you.

6. Glóð by Sigur Rós - New record for my favorite band, and the one band who I would say is my Desert Island band if I could only listen to one band’s entire discography for the rest of my life. This record is STUNNING. Welcome back my friends, welcome back indeed.
