Week 2 of The Matchbook! Wahooo. I dig this thing. I hope you’re all having a rad week, I hope you liked the links I conjured up last week, and I hope you like these the same, or more. You decide.
Also, if you’re loving this newsletter, please consider helping me keep it going with a paid subscription. You get TWO extra newsletters each week (with fun writing prompts and discussion threads) and direct access to me, and to the most amazing community of fellow Light Chasers in the comments:
Here are the things I found, loved, and wanted to share with you this week:
A Doorway On Mars?! - I know, I know, it’s probably just a trick of light, a shadow, or some other such completely mundane silliness, but I’ll be buggered if the idea of a DOORWAY ON MARS doesn’t get me really, really excited.
Brassic Season 4 Trailer - The best show I’ve ever seen, back for a fourth season, and I couldn’t be more excited. The characters, the writing, the humor, the heart. I cannot wait, I absolutely cannot wait. If you’ve not yet seen this show, the first three seasons are up on Hulu, and it’s fantastic.
Draw Every Road - Don’t ask me why I like this, don’t ask me what part of my brain it tickles, but I LOVE typing in a city or town or village or hamlet, and seeing what Just the roads look like. What an amazing thing. Here’s an example, check out where Sarah and I got married on the Isle of Skye.
One Man Orchestra - I’ll never understand talent, and the many manifestations it can assume. This dude, somehow with only a mic and a loop pedal, is able to be an entire orchestra and opera and DJ and it blows my mind. Every 2 seconds, it gets richer and richer. Wow is an understatement.
What Great Listeners Do - A reminder that there’s no greater gift to give others, than to be a good listener. Tips, and insight on how we can listen better, and what that can do. Great read.
25 Pieces of Advice On Marriage - 25 little nuggets of wisdom, all from couples who have been married 25+ years. For those that are married, a worthy read, for those that may one day, just as much. Sarah and I are heading into our third anniversary this October, and it was fascinating to read and apply some of these lessons already.
Cinnamon Sugar Donuts - Techncially this recipe calls for chocolate filling, but I hate chocolate, so I suggest leaving it out and just enjoying the donut as is, OR, replacing the chocolate with something else cool, like more cinnamon and sugar. You cannot go wrong. It’s like a bowl of Cinnamon Toast Crunch in donut form. Come on.
GeoGuessr - Another rad little game, this time you just have to determine where in the world you think the Street View photo was taken. Addicting, and you get to travel without traveling. Groovy.
How To Contact your Representatives - There’s some VERY good reasons to contact your Senators, and your Representatives right now. Some very, very, very good reasons. I can think of 21 heartbreakingly beautiful ones right this very instant. Here’s how to contact your Senators, and your Legislators. Now is the time to do so, to let them know how you feel.
I hope you have a stunning weekend. Cannot wait to hear from you all on The Sunday Edition in a few days. Stay safe, hold each other close.
I love you all.
I love that more people are now getting to join me in your “Sarah, look at this!” shouted with such enthusiasm at all hours of the day and night, no matter what I’m in the middle of. 🤣 Even if I may sometimes sigh or roll my eyes, I’m always amazed and grateful for the way you share your curiosity with me. Welcome to everyone else in this wonderful group to the weird wandering and beautiful way Tyler explores the world. 💚
On ep 5 of Brassic 🤣🤣🤣 literally laughing out loud at these buffoons!
