Somehow, we stumbled into November, and I rang it in with two days of straight headaches. Apologies for the slightly late Matchbook today, my head was-a-throbbin. That said, we’re back baby, we’re back.
I’m allergic to NSAIDS so when I get headaches, I’m basically screwed. Doctors say the only real medicine, is for you to join us in our exclusive community. It’s like a shot of morphine to my excruciating pain, so maybe just do it:
Here’s the scoop, kids:
100 Kitchen/Cooking Hacks - This dude makes hilarious, informative, and super helpful videos about cooking, baking, and all things kitchen. Lady G and I have followed up on a bunch of these tips, and are still finding them invaluable. Dive in, learn, laugh.
Secrets of the Whales - Our dear friend Kathryn tipped me off about this gem, which I don’t even know how old it is. Narrated by Sigourney Weaver, and produced by James Cameron (who, say what you want, knows his f’ing way around the ocean), it’s had me in tears, gasping at the screen, and falling even deeper into love with these different majestic creatures. There’s a reason I have a humpback whale tattooed on my wrist, this will show you why.
International Pet Photography Winners - From giant sea-pets (ok, not pets but I can dream) to the ones we’re a bit more familiar with, apparently there is an international photography contest, with winners, for those who happen to excel at pet photography. It makes me want to up my game with Gilly, that’s for damn sure. Here was the grand prize winner:
Autistic Boy Wins Golf Tournament Despite Only Playing 3 Times - I’d like to say I’m surprised, I’d like to say I was shocked, but truth is, I am just not. Autistic people are magical beings that can do magical things and we’re only just beginning to scratch the surface on the way our brains work. Neurodivergent is the way forward, I firmly believe this. Rock on little dude. Rock on.
We Were Never Supposed To See Our Faces This Much - Selfies, am I right? Selfies. Turns out, human beings are not in any way designed to see our own faces as often as we do, be it Zoom calls, selfies, or even the little square in the corner during FaceTime. We just aren’t. Turns out, all this is having an adverse, and possibly permanent, consequence on the way we’re perceiving ourselves on this planet. That’s terrifying, and this article is very much worth a read. Please take the time.
Voyager by boygenius - They are everywhere right now, hopefully relishing their much deserved time in the sun, and that will probably turn some people off, just like the dude in High Fidelity who only liked bands that people weren’t hyped on. Still, they make great songs, and this is another.
Start Your Holiday Shopping Early! - My little, very humble, Chasers of the Light Shop, has hand-signed prints of ALL my typewriter poems, custom poems written just for you, and a whole lot of other little goodies that make really rad holiday gifts. Start your shopping early, and stress less. Why not?
I love you all. Be good.
Can you take Tylenol? It helps me a little. Also ... do you know a good massage therapist? Weekly neck/face/head massages help keep my headaches a bit more manageable. Feel better.
Sending loving healing for those pesky headaches! ❤️🩹
