I love the poem. How it moves from past into present. How it goes from more lines, more syllables to less. How it doesn’t shade either with should have/could have/ will have, but ends with a focus on working in the now, comfortable with any part of your past… no lies, no promises. Being mindful of what you have, moving forward. So sweet that you can supplant your past life via a relationship that helps you live better today. It brings to mind how many people are stuck in the past, always wearing their high school letter jacket, filling their homes with keepsakes, fantasizing on only the positive privileges they have known, refusing to move on with their life. I don’t want to paint the past as being anything more or less than it was. I just have no interest to “make it anything again”.
Kevin, as usual, your in-depth analysis is so beyond appreciated and welcomed. It means a lot you read so deeply into what I write, and that you're willing to share it here. Truly, thank you.
I think a book of custom poems would be great especially if you share a few (allowed) details behind the story as you do in your posts. I, like many people, live for stories of people's lives, why they are who they are, and what prompted them to ask for these poems. Also any insight into what you go through (not for every one but for a handful) would be fascinating and beautiful!
What a wonderful gift you have. What a way with words.
What a mighty compliment, I don't feel worthy. Truly.
I love the idea of a book!
Me too actually! I think I gotta look into this!
Beautiful! This one really spoke to me. And I would definitely be interested in a book of these poems written for different people!
Ahh this is so great to hear. Time to do some research haha.

The key would be which details I'd be allowed to share! :)
My thoughts exactly
“Nothing left to overthink” is a powerful peace I have never thought of before.
That's the part that really resonated for me too. Such peace in that.
Love this poem 💜 and yes, please, a book of these custom poems would be amazing to read!
:) THANK you!
