One of my bizarre Autism traits is—and those who know me will attest—I am ALWAYS fascinated by something. Fascinated, curious about, and so overwhelmed by that I feel the need to say a single line to whomever is nearby:
Look at this!
Most of the time, I’m the only one that finds it as interesting as I do. Most of the time, I get the pity glance over, the half-interested “uh-huh” before they turn away. That’s ok. I’m still all in.
I’ve been thinking a lot about this place, about how to help it grow, how to keep the trajectory upward rather than so roller-coaster in nature. I asked those I loved and trusted, and everyone said they loved what I was doing, but then my best good buddy and fellow Autistic
hit me with the best advice he could possibly muster and it really resonated. He said:“I think we just need to get way more of your personality into your marketing, then things will sell more.”
So, in an attempt to do exactly that, because Ash is right way more often than he is wrong, I’m gonna start sprinkling in a lot more of that “Look at this” personality into this here Signal Fire, sharing with you on some Fridays, and also just randomly when the mood strikes, anything that happened to distract, excite, or invoke in me that hallowed feeling of wanting to share it. Why not?
If any of YOU have any other things you’d like me to talk about, share, or include, in this Signal Fire community to help it grow, I’m all ears. Sound off in the comments, DM me if you’re shy, and I’ll do what I can. I want this whole place to feel good and feel like an escape from the social medias.
Anyway, here are my LOOK AT THIS things that have been occupying precious brain space as of late:
Severance Season 2 - Lady G and I were divided on this, she kinda hated the second season while I still enjoyed it. I will agree with her, I liked season 1 more, and found that I thought some of season 2’s episodes could have been consolidated and that they should have had more episodes that felt like the season finale. That episode was one of the best episodes of television I’ve seen in a long time and I truly hope that we don’t have to wait another 3 years to see what happens next.
The Signal Chat Heard Round The World - Woof. Not sure where to even go with this, but it’s been literally everywhere on everything. At this point, I think it’s fairly inarguable, no matter who you voted for, that this level of incompetency and flippancy towards national security is astonishing. It’s less than 3 months into the new administration and if this is a sign of what’s to come, hooo baby are we in for some strange, rocky, bizarre times.
Kids + Analog Fun = Happy - I busted out my old CarveBoard skateboard for my next-door neighbor Henry the other day, and as it’s a fickle little devil to stand on, he and his buddy spent HOURS sitting on it like a bobsled and using my old batting gloves to steer down the asphalt. It’s just RAD to see kids doing something without an iPad, or internet connection. See video evidence below for shenanigans.
Magnesium Glycinate = Weird Dreams - I started taking a magnesium glycinate supplement before bed—because I have a wussy tummy and cannot do any other forms of magnesium without getting bubble guts—to try to help get less headaches. I can report two things. 1) I get less headaches. B) It gives me the most insane, surreal, VIVID, incredible dreams. Even if I get woken up by something, I immediately dream a new dream right away after. Some of these dreams I want to turn into either short stories or movie ideas. Yeah, they are that weird and good. I take this kind and it’s been fantastic.
Prime Target on AppleTV - Don’t get the wrong idea, Sarah only lets us watch one episode of tv a night, so it takes us a long, lonnnnnng time to finish any kind of series. We finished this one though, and I’m just gonna say it: It was ok. It’s kinda hard to make super advanced level math seem super exciting and edge-of-your-seaty and this one kinda didn’t really? I don’t know. Stakes seemed low, acting seemed not fantastic some of the time by some of the people, and it was just so-so. A rare kinda miss from AppleTV, really. You won’t be sad if you watch it, but you won’t be sad if you miss it either.
Also taking up brain-space, is Sarah absolutely rocking it with her bread business,
and her launching the “Fred the Bread Shed” honesty box this week. She loads bread in, people come by when they want and leave money in the box and take a loaf. She filled it and only ended up with a single loaf un-taken. Rad as hell.So yeah, here are some LOOK AT THIS things that you might wanna look at. I do want your feedback…what else do you want to see here? How can I get more beautiful souls to subscribe, for free or for paid, to this majestic place? Give me some feedback, some ideas, and by all means, Share this publication with anyone you can think of.
I Love you all. See you soon.
