Just a brief little extra newsletter today, as today is a day of two occasions worth celebrating, two holidays and whilst I wanted to give Juneteenth the larger platform because I think it’s vital to use our privileges in all the ways we can, I still wanted to offer up a little testament to the other as well.
Today is Father’s Day and so I just wanted to take this time, this place, to thank my own father, the man behind the myths, Glenn “Goose” Gregson. Thank you, Daddy-O for a lifetime of friendship, of lessons handed down, of patience, of adventure, and of the perfect dose of good-natured goofiness tossed in. You gave us, your three now grown kids, a life of wanderlust, a life of peripatetic wonder, and the belief that you can go anywhere, for any reason, and as long as you’re open, as long as you’re kind, you’ll be ok. I love you so much, and am so thankful for everything, but most of all, that we’ve transitioned so seamlessly into being best friends from father and son. What a gift.
To the other father’s in my life, to Sarah’s dad Mike, to my sister’s wonderful husbands Pat and Wes who are half of the equation that is raising my beautiful nieces and nephews, to my buddy Greg who I have known since kindergarten, to all of the other Dads that have wandered into my life, I say too: Thank you. Thank you for constantly showing me new ways to add new pieces and places to a heart.
Happy Father’s Day, to all of you who are, were, will be, or may never be but still take care of everyone around you like a father anyway. Enjoy this day. You deserve it.
Tyler,
THANK YOU again for you encouragement and your words to be better fathers, better mothers, better friends, better family…you have made me a better human on this crazy orb spinning under a sky of mystery and wonder.
Thank you for being a guiding starlight 💫
Thanks, “Main Main”, for those heartfelt words… I am a very lucky man/lucky Dad!! You continue to make me so very proud of you!!
