As blue hour settles in, stains the sky with more colors than I thought possible, I hear humming from the other room, simple notes of simple melody that signify nothing other than a contentedness of heart. We sing when we are settled, when our souls feel at peace, and it’s fascinating to me the tunes that come when we do. What do we hum? Where do these songs come from? Who writes these melodies inside us? Is it joy? Is it peace? What creates without our consent, and what must happen in our lives to give voice to it? From another room I hear humming, and it sounds exactly like a song I’ve been waiting to hear.
From another room
I can still hear you humming.
Eyes closed I listen.

Somehow I was transported back to a time ....listening to my mom....
This is beautiful. I often hum the same tune when I need soothing, it just comes automatically. souls are complex and mysterious things, aren't they?
