Yesterday in this often silly country, we had the Memorial Day holiday, and it really got me thinking about the catastrophic loss of life that armed conflict has inflicted on this place. According to some statitisticians, the total number of deaths in wars the United States has fought in since 1775 is somewhere around 1.3 MILLION people, and it breaks my entire heart. We should absolutely remember those that have died, but I think we should also do more, and even though nothing we say in this little place will ever begin to fix the problems that lead to these deaths, still we can talk, still we can share, still we can try.
