A Tumblr Plea: Please Keep Original Art Original

I hate to do a post like this, but it’s just getting a bit out of hand, so it’s time.  This is a plea to all of you out there on this amazing network that is Tumblr:

Please, Please do not remove credit from people’s original artwork.  I am beyond flattered that some of you seem to really enjoy my Daily Haikus on Love, but it breaks my heart when I see them reblogged only to find out that the line “Daily Haiku on Love by Tyler Knott Gregson” has been removed.  Often times, it’s removed completely and replaced with “Unknown” as the Author.  Other times, it’s just completely removed, leaving nothing but a quote. These haikus mean the world to me and it’s hard to watch as they are spread over the internets like orphans without anyone to claim them.  Please, Please at the very least, leave the authors name, the photographers credit, the painters signature, whatever.  Tumblr is great because it gives all of us artists a place to spread our work, find new inspirations and follow people that, for reasons we don’t even understand, feel like home.  Lets not trash this by stealing from people, removing credit, deleting the creator and orphaning art.

If it’s your Tumblr Theme that’s doing it, fix it.  If you love something, reblog it and keep it the same.  This is my Tumblr Plea, and I’d love as much support for this as possible.  I love your art, I respect your art, please, help me out here.

Namasté,

Tyler Knott Gregson
