The Bravery of Leaves

Do they know?
Can they feel the shift
when the cold fills
their veins.
Do they know this dance
they dance
will be the final grace
they leave with
us?
Do they know
when they leap
all together
when they leap
their shuddering
stuttering
fall
will slow the
pace of time
and bring tears
to eyes?
In their final act
of heroism
the leap
that will return them
to nothing
the bravery and
the grace
do they know?
